Spic Laundry
We designed a user-friendly app for Spic Laundry, enabling customers to schedule laundry services, manage orders, and track deliveries in real time. The app features a streamlined booking system, flexible payment options, and order tracking. An agent management system was also included to coordinate pickups and drop-offs, improving operational efficiency.
Spic Laundry, the first company in Saudi Arabia offering hazardous-free laundry services, required a user-friendly mobile app. The app needed to provide a seamless booking system for customers and manage agent activities for pickups and deliveries.
Spic Laundry sought a solution to enable customers to book services, schedule laundry, and track orders. Additionally, an agent management app was required to coordinate pickups and drop-offs, with integration into their existing ERP system.
TCD roles can be summed up as follows.
The project had a tight deadline, requiring rapid prototyping and testing to develop a user-friendly interface for both customers and agents, while aligning with existing branding and ensuring integration with the company's ERP system.
Outlining the strategic plan and methodology used to tackle the client's challenges. This section highlights our process for research, analysis, and planning to ensure a solution that aligns with client goals.
Understanding the Needs: Discovery Phase
Through in-depth stakeholder interviews and research, we identified the needs of both customers and agents. The app required seamless integration with Spic Laundry's ERP system to ensure efficient functionality across all services.
Designing a Flexible, Multi-Mode System
We developed a design system that supported multiple color modes and languages (English and Arabic), ensuring adaptability and consistency with Spic Laundry’s branding. This allowed the app to accommodate diverse user preferences.
Rapid Prototyping: Speed Without Sacrifice
With tight deadlines, we implemented rapid prototyping, bypassing traditional wireframes. High-fidelity prototypes were developed and tested in real time, allowing for quick feedback and efficient iterations to meet all project requirements.
Structuring the User Journey: Information Architecture
We created a detailed information architecture to map the flow for both customers and agents. This structure ensured a seamless user experience, allowing easy navigation through the app's features, whether scheduling a service or managing deliveries.
A Modern, Intuitive UI/UX Design
Finally, we crafted a modern interface aligned with Spic Laundry's branding, focusing on intuitive navigation. The design ensured that both customers and agents could easily adapt to the app, making interactions—from scheduling services to managing deliveries—smooth and efficient.
Detailing the creative and technical work involved in executing the project. From design to implementation, this section showcases the steps taken to bring the vision to life.
Information Architecture
Before starting the design, we developed a detailed information architecture to define the flow for both the customer and agent apps. This ensured a smooth user experience, allowing customers to easily navigate through the app for scheduling services, while agents could efficiently manage their tasks like pickups and deliveries.
Wireframing and Structure
Given the urgency of the project, we decided to streamline the process by minimizing traditional wireframing. Instead, we used a high-level system architecture built from the project scope to accelerate the design process. This enabled us to move quickly into prototyping while maintaining a solid structural foundation.
Design System with Dark Mode Capability
A comprehensive design system was created to maintain consistency across all app components while supporting multiple color modes, including dark mode. This flexible system allowed us to integrate various elements like typography, buttons, and layout choices, ensuring a visually cohesive experience in both English and Arabic languages.
The dark mode capability enhanced user accessibility, providing a customizable experience without compromising on brand identity.
Rapid Prototyping
To meet the tight deadlines, we focused on rapid prototyping, skipping the wireframes in favor of a direct, high-fidelity prototype. This allowed us to test the design in real-time with stakeholders, gather immediate feedback, and iterate quickly. The rapid prototyping process ensured that the design aligned with both customer and agent needs while staying on track with the project timeline.
Agent Management App
The agent management app was designed to streamline operations, providing agents with real-time notifications, task status updates, and navigation to customer locations. Custom color schemes were implemented to help agents quickly identify tasks and navigate through their workflows with ease.
Advanced Features
The customer app was packed with advanced features that enhanced functionality. These included order tracking, rescheduling, payment preferences, and transparent invoicing, all designed to improve the user experience. Additionally, the app supported multilingual capabilities with both English and Arabic, ensuring that it catered to a diverse user base. The flexibility of the design system allowed for seamless navigation, regardless of the chosen language or feature in use.

What We Learned from This Project
The Spic Laundry project was a win! We delivered a sleek, functional app on time, thanks to rapid prototyping and real-time feedback. Here’s what we took away:
Prototyping FTW: Skipping wireframes and jumping into prototypes kept things moving fast. Test, tweak, repeat—it worked like a charm!
Feedback is Gold: Stakeholder input made all the difference. Their insights helped shape a solution that fit both customers and agents perfectly.
Smooth Integrations = Happy Users: Connecting the app with Spic’s ERP system took some planning, but it paid off in a seamless user experience.
Flexibility is Key: Dark mode? Check. Multilingual support? Check. Building flexibility into the design made it adaptable and future-proof.
UX Rules: Simple, intuitive design for the win. It made the app easy to use and kept both customers and agents happy.
Big thanks to Spic Laundry for letting us dive into this project and elevate their service experience!
